TWiT 112: Blimey!

Hosts: Leo Laporte, Wil Harris, Mike Masnick, and John C. Dvorak

Steve Jobs's blunder, Foleo flops, and a wife gets her husband's attention...

  • What irked the most people during the Apple iPod-related announcements was a $200 price drop to $399 in the iPhone. All those people who waited hours in line were incredibly infuriated. A day later, however, Steve Jobs announced a $100 credit for iPhone owners who purchased before the price drop. It seems in response to his statement of "that's technology."
  • The iPod Touch is basically the iPhone without the phone.
  • Check out the zunePhone advertisement.
  • Take a look at Dvorak's review of an IBM computer in 1987!
  • The Palm Foleo never even had a chance to get off the ground.

  • Verizon FiOS installers accidentally started a fire.
  • According to New Scientist, a gamer's button presses can be predicted by skin signals.
  • A Chinese woman cut off her husband's hands because he was paying too much time on the Internet.
  • Bee disappearances are not due to cell phones, but due to a virus from Australia.
  • Geeks are using Amazon's Mechanical Turk to scan through Google Maps images.
  • Apple is pushing to drop TV episode prices to 99 cents.
  • Nikon announced a full-frame single-lens reflex camera.
  • A fundraiser in Star Wars Galaxies raised money for Habitat for Humanity.
  • The US Department of Justice is recommended against Network Neutrality legislation.
