iOS Pick: KD Pro Disposable Camera

Andy Ihnatko’s pick of the week on MacBreak Weekly 599 is KD Pro Disposable Camera. This is an iOS app that emulates an old timey Kodak disposable camera, and it has all of the same limitations that the old cameras did.

First of all, you don’t get the whole screen as a viewfinder, only a small viewfinder. Then when you click the button to take the picture, you have to actually operate a thumbwheel to advance to the next frame. There are only 24 frames on the roll, so as soon as you take 24, you’re done. And instead of getting the photos instantly, you have to wait a set amount of time for the pictures to show up (as if they’re being developed).

There are additional settings to simulate the look of light leaking in, or lens distortion effects to make it look like a cheap plastic lens. You can even have a time and date stamp burned into the photos.

KD Pro is free, but there are in-app purchases to get rid of the ads and get some extra features.
