Mac Pick: Setapp

Adam Engst's pick of the week on MacBreak Weekly 540 is Setapp, which is still currently in beta. This is an alternative to the app store, kind of like Netflix for Mac Apps. You pay a subscription of $9.99 a month, and you get access to a catalog of 57 apps, with more to be added in the future.

This includes a lot of well known apps including Ulysses, iStat Menus, iFlicks, Clean My Mac, and more. It works a little different from how you'd normally get an app. Instead of downloading the full app right away, it will open up into a preview window so you can see what the app will do. Then you can decide to download it and run it from there.

Setapp's model also ensures that you get the latest app updates at no additional charge as well.
