Tip: How to Still Get Windows Essentials 2012

On Windows Weekly 500, Paul Thurrott talks about the end of Windows Essentials 2012, which Microsoft officially stopped support for on January 10, 2017. Microsoft posted a support document on this, and gives alternatives to the apps in the suite at support.microsoft.com. Many of the apps in the suite have been rolled into Windows 8 and above, but there is still no replacement for Windows Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery. The only way to get those apps are from the Windows Essentials suite.

Fortunately, Paul Thurrott found links to download both the web installer and offline installer of Windows Essentials 2012. These links may stop working at any time, however, so you may want to act quickly. Just head to the "update" section at the bottom of this post at thurrott.com to find the links.
